Possible limits of accuracy in measurement of fundamental physical constants

چکیده

The measurement uncertainties of Fundamental Physical Constants should take into account all possible and most influencing factors. One from them is the finiteness of the model that causes the existence of a-priori error. The proposed formula for calculation of this error provides a comparison of its value with the actual experimental measurement error that cannot be done an arbitrarily small. According to the suggested approach, the error of the researched Fundamental Physical Constant, measured in conventional field studies, will always be higher than the error caused by the finite number of dimensional recorded variables of physicalmathematical models. Examples of practical application of the considered concept for measurement of fine structure constant, speed of light and Newtonian constant of gravitation are discussed.

Constraining the evolution of the fundamental constants with a solid-state optical frequency reference based on the 229Th nucleus.

We describe a novel approach to directly measure the energy of the narrow, low-lying isomeric state in 229Th. Since nuclear transitions are far less sensitive to environmental conditions than atomic transitions, we argue that the 229Th optical nuclear transition may be driven inside a host crystal with a high transition Q. This technique might also allow for the construction of a solid-state op...

Puzzle of the Constancy of Fundamental Constants

We discuss experiments and observations aimed at testing the possible space-time variability of fundamental physical constants, predicted by the modern theory. Specifically, we consider two of the dimensionless physical parameters which are important for atomic and molecular physics: the fine-structure constant and the electron-to-proton mass ratio. We review the current status of such experime...

Testing cosmological variability of fundamental constants

One of the topical problems of contemporary physics is a possible variability of the fundamental constants. Here we consider possible variability of two dimensionless constants which are most important for calculation of atomic and molecular spectra (in particular, the X-ray ones): the fine-structure constant α = e/h̄c and the proton-toelectron mass ratio μ = mp/me. Values of the physical consta...

Study of Dehydrogenation of Pressure-induced NaBH4 Structures Using Calculated NQCC Parameters

Nuclear quadrupole resonance (NQR) spectroscopy is an accurate method for determination of electric charge distribution around quadrupolar nuclei. Using ab initio computational methods, it is possible to calculate the Nuclear Quadrupole Coupling Constants (NQCCs) with high accuracy and obtain the useful structural information by using these parameters. Sodium Borohydride, NaBH4, is a metal hydr...

The fine-structure constant: a new observational limit on its cosmological variation and some theoretical consequences

Endeavours of the unification of the four fundamental interactions have resulted in a development of theories having cosmological solutions in which low-energy limits of fundamental physical constants vary with time. The validity of such theoretical models should be checked by comparison of the theoretical predictions with observational and experimental bounds on possible time-dependences of th...
